GSM modem to SMPP gateway

Some mobile networks don't offer IP SMS services. If you want to reach the mobile phones of such a mobile network directly to send and receive SMS messages, you can attach GSM modems (sometimes called as SMS modems) to a computer, and you can send and receive messages over the air. Ozeki 10 can handle multiple GSM modems simultaneously and can forward the SMS traffic to IP SMS connections or to applications. The following documents offer information on how to use a single GSM modem or how to use many GSM modems to cureate such configurations.

SMPP to GSM Modem gateway (single modem)

This document explains how to setup a simple GSM modem to SMPP gateway. This is a very easy to create setup. It simply routes all messages coming to the GSM modem to an SMPP client, and it forward SMS messages sent by the SMPP client to the mobile network through the GSM modem. This configuration gives access to a mobile network using a single mobile phone number. This phone number is assigned to the SIM card in the GSM modem. You get the mobile phone number from the mobile network operator, when you buy the SIM card. If you send SMS messages using this configuration all messages will be sent out using this phone number. If somebody replies to this phone number in a reply SMS, it will arrive to the GSM modem and the Ozeki software will forward this message to the SMPP client.
